Founded on the conviction that Prague belongs on the map of contemporary art and as such was missing an appropriate space for it Dox opened its doors in 2008. With its pristine white walls and spacious rooms Dox is spread out over a whopping 6250 square metres! They offer a very varied selection of disciplines and styles in their exhibitions and the pieces are shown both inside and in Dox's outside spaces.. When I was there I saw 'Shoe Christ' a 6m high, 500 kg weighing sculpture depicting a crucified figure made entirely from 1444 (mostly single) shoes.. And the Bikini Klub sculptures: 'non-media-perfect' female figures in brightly colored bikini's, lounging beach-like on the cafe's terrace.. Great way to find out about contemporary Czech art and the free mini bus going daily from Prague's city center makes it really easy to get there too! Photo by Svajcr
With its fab terrace cafe, huge design shop and outdoor exhibition space you could while away quite a few hours here, no problem!
