In the Czech republic the concept of the farmers market has only taken of quite recently. The first market was held in March 2010 and with a whopping 15000 visitors there were soon farmers markets popping up all over Prague.. The most centrally located Naplavka market has more than 40 producers hawking Czech grown veggies, cheese, sausages, home baked pastries, fruit, dairy.. the lot! Most of it organic and although as a visitor you might not be in need of onions there are lots of other goodies to take home or devour on a park bench.. Like goats cheese ice cream, ostrich pate, dried mushrooms, hand made ceramics, Moravian wine or the addictive Maja chocolate/honey cream.. The vendors are happy to chat to you in English and tell you where their farm is and sometimes even invite you to visit!
Because there is often live music, grilled meat and micro brews on tap giving the market a happy beer garden/ mini festival type vibe..
