Previously a Jewish girl's school, this building was officially given back to the Jewish community in 2009 after which it has gone through an extensive renovation and now combines history, art and gastronomy. What's so interesting is that it both pays honor to the past and takes part of contemporary, creative Berlin..
The former assembly hall and two classrooms showcase modern art and classical modernist work and on the first floor there are some 400 square metres dedicated to paintings, photography and sculpture..
On the ground floor restaurant/bar Pauly-Saal's decor and menu are inspired by Berlin's golden years of the 20s and 30s. Note the red and white missile which takes up the entire width of one wall, it's pretty spectacular.
Kosher meals are served in the Kosher Classroom with a traditional Shabbat dinner every Friday at which anyone is welcome and last but not least Mogg & Melzer delicatessen offer delicious classic NY style food stuffs..
