People have been boozing here since 1860, which makes Casa Almirall the oldest bar in the city. This barely changed corner bar is dark, intriguing and slightly disheveled. It's the sort of bar you walk into and decide that everyone is having a deep and meaningful conversation.. Almirall is frequented by a mixed group of Raval's weird and wonderful, and the bar's jazzy tunes and low lighting make for an intimate atmosphere.
Note the original marble modernista-style bar with a wrought-iron feminine figure that happens to be the muse of the Barcelona Universal Exposition of 1888..
Worth visiting just for the warm atmosphere of a place where time has almost stood still..
