The pressure is on for East side restaurant Baut as Amsterdam's famously feared food critic Johannes van Dam gave this restaurant no less than ten out of ten! Woah!
The kitchen seems to be coping pretty well though as one would need to book weeks in advance for dinner on a Fri or Saturday! Weekdays are easily reserved though and lunches are no problem at all. Their concept is simple: amazing food at affordable prices serving in between portions (love this -means you can taste more stuff!)
Baut has an industrial, Berlin like sort of feel to the place, menu's are stuck to a board with duct tape and their logo inside is made up out of small squares of the same sticky stuff. Ha, the reason for this is this restaurant's temporary existence. Baut will be for exactly two years, the 31st of December 2014 being Baut's last day. Hence the raw, construction like interior. With regards to the blow up Chesterfield, retro record player, monster pink chair, giant weird rusty insects and other cool, quirky creativeness we don't know but we like it. Just as we like the colorful art and yeah, the food, we looove the food!
Well it makes you wonder why all us travellers get stuck in the city centre while all the really good stuff is happening just a stone's throw away..
