London - eat - Cafe in the Crypt

Cafe in the Crypt

At the cafe in the crypt they serve lovely, fresh, home made food... in the crypt! Set in the gloomy basement of St. Martin in the field's pretty church this cafeteria style cafe serves breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, all of which you eat sitting on top of ancient gravestones. House specialties include bread and butter pudding and apple crumble which should be eaten with great big lashings of custard. The crypt is beautifully lit and they serve the best Auntie food in town, did I mention the custard all ready? Photo: Oxfordian Kissuth

Because it serves one of the best afternoon teas in Central London, without the crowds, in a spooky atmosphere and for old-school prices.
