How come this place has been around since 1662 and I had never heard about it?! Nuts! From now on I will try and make up for that every time I'm in Amsterdam!
Hanneke's Boom (tree) is a restaurant/ beer garden located right on the water. Outside is massive with a lovely leafy canopy and twinkly lights at night where you can sit at one of the wooden benches or dangle your feet over the side watching the on-the-water-action. Inside has trees as pillars and the ceiling has birds painted on it making it look like you're looking up a tree. Cute. :)
The menu changes regularly and consists of 3 starters, 4 mains and 2 desserts. Tasty, healthy stuff and when we were there served by a young, happy chappy who called me by my first name, nice huh?
Expect plenty of locals, music and high noise levels. Even on a rainy day it's busy and buzzy and full of energy! So close to central Station yet so far removed from the city centre's tourist tat!
