Barcelona - eat - Ocaña

Bohemian bar/restaurant lit by candles and flea market finds.

"They ask me if I'm a transvesite. I am not a transvestite, I am a clown and Las Ramblas is my stage"

These are words from local artist José Pérez Ocaña (1947-1983), whom used to live next door to this cool creative cafe/ restaurant and whose balcony was well known for it's altar dedicated to the virgin of 'La Ascencion' and for always being full of flowers.

Art and creativity are the common denominator of this bohemian bar with its many candelabras (with real candles) and an interior which is a splendid mix of flea market finds & worn velvet with concrete & chrome.

Ocaña's skilled barmen use quality ingredients to create unique cocktails while the restaurant serves Catalan food with a touch of fusion.

Smack bang in the middle of Plaça Reial lies Ocaña's perfect-for-people-watching terrace.

Sit under one of the arches, sip on a basil sangria made with cranberry & orange infused brandy and I'll bet you'll find it very hard to leave..
